Another Milestone for Toyota Canada

TOYOTA CANADA INC. ACHIEVES SECOND-STRAIGHT BEST-EVER MONTH OF SALES

 

New pricing and a fuel-efficient fleet deliver record-breaking back-to-back months

(TORONTO) - For the second straight month, Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) has achieved a new monthly sales record. Powered by record sales of hybrid vehicles and the Canadian-built Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix and Lexus RX 350, TCI sold 28,489 Toyota and Lexus cars and trucks in May, up 15.2 per cent from the same month last year.

 

Canadians purchased 26,664 Toyota vehicles in May, up 15.5 per cent versus May 2007 to set a new monthly record.

 

Toyota truck sales of 6,776 in May were up 14.4 per cent year over year, to set a new May record. Toyota sold 19,888 passenger cars last month, up 15.8 per cent from the same month in 2007 to establish an all-new record for best-ever month.

 

New record month for Corolla: sales of the all-new, Canadian-built compact up 35.2 per cent vs. May 2007, at 7,435.

 

New record month for Matrix: sales of the all-new, Canadian-built crossover up 5.5 per cent vs. May 2007, at 3,062.

 

Canadians purchased a record 2,213 hybrid vehicles (Toyota plus Lexus) to help achieve a best-ever month, up 119.5 per cent vs. May 2007. Toyota hybrid passenger car sales of 1,839 represent 9.2 per cent of all Toyota passenger cars sold in May.

 

"As gasoline prices continue to rise, Canadians continue to take advantage of our full range of fuel-efficient vehicles, including the Canadian-built Toyota Corolla and Toyota Matrix," noted Tony Wearing, Managing Director at TCI.

 

"We're also proud that Canadians are turning to Toyota in record numbers for our many fuel efficient, low emission gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles."

TOYOTA Canada Sets New Record

TOYOTA CANADA INC. BREAKS ALL-TIME MONTHLY SALES RECORD

 

(TORONTO) - Selling 25,441 Toyota and Lexus cars and trucks, Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) set a new record for monthly sales in April.  With rising gas prices, Canadians looked to Toyota this month for exemplary fuel efficiency and overall value.

Canadians purchased 23,883 Toyota vehicles in April, up 19.8 per cent versus April 2007 to set a new monthly record.

 

Toyota sold 17,533 passenger cars in April, up 20.4 per cent from last year - a best-ever month.

 

Toyota truck sales of 6,350 in April were up 18.1 per cent year over year - a new April record.

 

"Canadians are concerned about value overall, and they are responding to Toyota's new lower pricing and fuel efficient vehicles," commented Tony Wearing, Managing Director at TCI. "With top choices such as Yaris Sedan, the all-new Corolla and Matrix, Canadian drivers continue to look to Toyota for value and fuel efficiency.  Moreover, every one of our hybrid vehicles set a new record this month."

 

April sales highlights:

 

Best month ever for the Yaris Sedan: sales of 2,739 up 9.1 per cent vs. April 2007.

 

New April record for all-new Corolla: with 6,790 sales, up 56.8 per cent vs. last year.

 

Sales of 2,636 all-new Matrix models up 15.9 per cent vs. April 2007.

 

Best month ever for RAV4 compact SUV: sales of 2,286 up 49.9 per cent year over year.

 

Best month ever for Lexus IS series: 358 models sold, up 30.2 per cent vs. April 2007, plus 41 sales of the all-new Lexus IS F high-performance edition.
