May 1, 2008

TOYOTA CANADA INC. BREAKS ALL-TIME MONTHLY SALES RECORD

(TORONTO) - Selling 25,441 Toyota and Lexus cars and trucks, Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) set a new record for monthly sales in April.  With rising gas prices, Canadians looked to Toyota this month for exemplary fuel efficiency and overall value.

Canadians purchased 23,883 Toyota vehicles in April, up 19.8 per cent versus April 2007 to set a new monthly record.

Toyota sold 17,533 passenger cars in April, up 20.4 per cent from last year - a best-ever month.

Toyota truck sales of 6,350 in April were up 18.1 per cent year over year - a new April record.

"Canadians are concerned about value overall, and they are responding to Toyota's new lower pricing and fuel efficient vehicles," commented Tony Wearing, Managing Director at TCI. "With top choices such as Yaris Sedan, the all-new Corolla and Matrix, Canadian drivers continue to look to Toyota for value and fuel efficiency.  Moreover, every one of our hybrid vehicles set a new record this month."

April sales highlights:

Best month ever for the Yaris Sedan: sales of 2,739 up 9.1 per cent vs. April 2007.

New April record for all-new Corolla: with 6,790 sales, up 56.8 per cent vs. last year.
